Senior Residential Childcare Worker
Are you Caring, Passionate and Committed to enabling vulnerable young women to live fulfilled and independent lives? Caritas is recruiting Senior Residential Child Care Workers to join 2 established residential care services in Horley and Merstham, Surrey. As a Senior Residential Child Care Worker, you will lead a team of care workers in supporting vulnerable women with emotional and behavioural difficulties as a result of violence and trauma experienced in their early lives. This post is permanent. The rate of pay is £9.86 per hour and £21.22 per sleep-in shift. As a full time, Senior Residential Child Care Worker, you can expect to work 160 hours a month (40 hours a week) and 8 sleep-in shifts a month. Duties & Responsibilities: To work as a part of a team in delivering a holistic and quality residential care service to up to 18 female service users.To attend meetings, appointments, court hearings with service users; always representing their best interests and serving as link-worker where appropriate.Ensure records are accurate, updated and stored in line with the data protection act.Responsibility for the day to day running of the shift except when on shift with a Deputy Manager / Manager when a supportive role will be undertaken.To support service users with meal preparation and ensuring that their day to day care needs are met.Responsible for the administration of medication and keeping accurate records of this.To work flexibly, supporting Managers to ensure services are adequately staffed and an interrupted service is being delivered.To pass over all necessary information to social workers, other professionals and parentsTo complete handovers in full; to report all incidents to managers. Essential Job Requirements: A passion and commitment to working with vulnerable young women with emotional and behavioural difficulties.Minimum of two years’ experience in residential childcare.Ability to work as part of a team.Ability to maintain professional boundaries at all times.A sound understanding of the Care Standards Act and National Minimum Standards that apply to residential childcareAn understanding of child protectionAbility to lead a team of Residential Child-Care Workers in the absence of the Deputy Manage and Unit Manager.Ability to organise routines and activities for a group of young women.Ability to write clear and concise reports.Ability to manage petty cash systems accurately.Ability to linkwork young women with complex needs.Undertake supervised contact with young women when required.Ability to support young women in Court.Good standard of basic education and the ability to learn and translate theory into practice.Desire to achieve the very best for the young women in your care.Commitment to professional development – a willingness to undertake training to enhance skills and knowledge. Desirable Job Requirements: NVQ Level 3 in childcare.Have a full, UK driving licence. Personal Qualities: Self management and professional discipline.Commitment and loyalty to the young women and the organisation.Good sense of humour.Good health record.Good timekeeping.
