Young People's Disability Co-Ordinator
We have a fantastic opportunity to join a large and very well known organisation as a Young Peoples Disability Co-Ordinator, based in Reigate, Surrey. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of services for young people with complex needs and disabilities (age 12-18) including weekly term time Saturday and evening clubs and school holiday provisions and must have experience of delivering activities and working with young people with a range of disabilities. Duties will include to manage and coordinate the weekly term time, weekend and evening clubs, along with holiday clubs for youth people with disabilities. To be involved in the development of on-going Short Break services, to take responsibility for the running and security of the Centre when required, and deal with any issues efficiently and appropriately, to coordinate and take responsibility for the planning, organisation and delivery of holiday, weekend and evening clubs, to market and promote the centre, to plan and deliver a structured programme of suitable activities to the needs of the children attending the centre, to work closely with the Children’s Services coordinators and Youth Services department to ensure a unified service, and to help young people transition where needed, to develop ASD specific services for young people, to lead a small team of play workers and volunteers, and to ensure that the service provided is of high quality and appropriate for young people with a physical disability, learning difficulties and sensory impairments, to assist in the recruitment and training along with taking responsibility to line manage senior play workers, bank play workers and volunteers, to work closely with individuals and their families to identify a range of social, play and leisure activities to meet the needs of the young people, to provide information, guidance and advice for parents about local services for young people and families. The role requires a flexible work pattern in term time. The pattern will include Saturday working 9.00am – 5.00pm, two Sundays per month from 9.00am - 5.00pm and also some evening shifts per week to mirror our programme of activities. The remaining hours will be spread between Tuesdays and Fridays, but the candidate will be expected to be flexible to meet the needs of the role.
