Patient Transport Driver
A job has become available driving an ambulance to transport patients around the South London area. Your job as an ambulance care assistant or patient transport service (PTS) driver will involve moving disabled, elderly and vulnerable people to and from outpatient clinics, daycare centres and routine hospital admissions. You will often see the same people on a regular basis and get to know them. Some of your passengers will be anxious about their visit and others will lead isolated lives so we are looking for empathetic, friendly and caring applicants. The job will involve driving specially designed ambulance with a tail-lift for wheelchairs, carrying several people on each journey. As well as driving, you will also lift and move patients in and out of the vehicle, making sure they are safe and comfortable during the journey and arrive on time for their appointment. An ambulance care assistant is also trained in resuscitation in case a patient is taken ill whilst in their care. Other duties of the job include making sure that the vehicle is clean and tidy and keeping an accurate record of journeys undertaken. You must have a Full UK driving Licence and have been driving for over 3 years to apply for this role, you will need to undertake a DBS (CRB) check, a first aid, manual handling and driving test, have a 10 year checkable work history and two written references.
